I also brought shorts and a shirt to run in. But after walking 15 miles today that won't happen tomorrow! Maybe the next day!
6 museums (not sure why I'm not talking the metro but I do love walking this city) from Tuileries to Rodin to St Germain area to Il de la cite. Then back "home" to watch the Tour. 10 miles in! The Louvre is open until 9:45 on Wed! So 3 hours there! Of course 1 getting lost (darn winding roads) and several ooooh that's pretty photo detours were included!
It's fun watching the Tour in French - they get so excited! I only saw the last bit but was fun!
They now let you take pictures of Monet's Lily paintings (across 2 rooms). He donated that to Paris so the city folks could have a calm, meditative, back to nature spot - it is stunning
Got caught in three quick rain showers. The first was in the jardin at the Museè Rodin - which was perfect as I had Le Penseur and the gardens to myself for awhile! Ended too soon and then I had to work around people again!
The Louvre - walking in it your lost it's so massive! I was hoping to sit for hours in front of my favorite painters gallery but alas they are renovating and there were only a couple or portraits. Oh well still is a stunning building with beautiful works of art. And if you ever wonder why there was a French Revolution look at the opulence here (especially Napolean apartment) and Versailles! Opulent is not a word that expresses how stunning they built and decorated these places!
Twice people answered me in French so maybe my accents getting better! Of course I didn't pick up all they said so that didn't help! Haha I'll get better!
More tomorrow!
