Well -- Here I go!

Well it's time! I leave early tomorrow morning for Colorado. I've had my last training ride, I'm right at my target weight -- there's not much more I can do now to be ready!

I think I packed everything I own! I had trouble getting the bag down the stairs -- thankfully I'm traveling with guys who will help if I have to load it up 3 or 4 bags high! There are three semi-trucks that move our luggage each day. You color code your bag and put it on early, middle or late truck. Then they line them up at the end of the day and you sort through until you find your bag. It really works quite nicely.

We'll stay in Kansas Wednesday night (hopefully not tornado's this year!) and then on to Frisco which is by Breckenridge. We're staying at a couple's condo -- they used to live in Columbus and belonged to Westerville Bicycle Club. We'll ride a couple of mountains Friday to get used to climbing and the altitude -- probably the same climbs we did last year.

Rona Chorman (Dad's brothers daughter) is going to come and get me on Friday night -- I'm very excited! I was probably what 15 when I saw her last?! So we'll have Friday night and Saturday. I need to go register at some point Saturday but should be able to spend most of the day with her and maybe even Saturday night.

The weather has been a bit dicey out there -- lots of rain. Looks like we'll get it at least 2 of the days we are out there. And then the normal temperature ranges -- 61 in Leadville, 90 in Gunnison! So you can see why my bag is so full.

You can follow the ride here: www.ridetherockies.com

I'll have my laptop until Saturday so I'll try to do another update and hopefully some pictures of Rona!

  3. A client of mine is headed out to Colorado next week to ride his bike. Not a big group ride, although that is what he would love to do. I think his parent's might live around Breckenridge (I think that may be where he is going). His dog is named Frisco, after the city you will be visiting.
