Making the Cover

It's every athletes dream to make the cover of a magazine. For mainstream sports in America it's always been Sports Illustrated. Cycling rarely makes it to mainstream magazines such as SI -- Greg LeMond was SI's athlete of the year as was Lance -- all told perhaps there have been 7-10 covers with cycling. So for cyclists Eurpoean based magazines are all the rage -- ProCycling and Cycle Sport are the two biggest race related magazines. With the popularity of Lance they've adapted their publication and issue American based magazines, focusing on English speaking athletes.

Team :roll is now in it's second year. We've had a tremendous sophomore season, I actually won a jersey for the most miles entered (Jim Burkhart won of course!) in sponsored rides -- how about that! :roll team members have ridden in several different states, 5 different countries, participated in many charity rides and generally have contributed to increasing the visibility and community of cycling.

But the coup de grace -- we've finally made the cover of a national publication!! Leading out the Tour de France no less -- how about that!

OK, OK, so it's a bit fake! This was my Christmas present to Jim and Rick -- for all they've done to support me riding and to support Team :roll. You'll notice I made the cover in the lower left -- helps when you are the graphic designer!
