A Family Get Together

As you may know the Chorman clan gathered in Pittsburgh early in November to celebrate Cindy's 50th birthday. It is always quite interesting getting a group this large together -- overwhelming, confusing, loud, joyous, crazy, silly, insert adjective here! Not only are there five Chorman girls, but Cindy and Dave had three daughters! Debbie's husband Jim came along, mainly to provide some support for Cindy's husband David!

The grand plan was to meet for lunch, do some IKEA shopping and then a dinner river boat cruise aboard the Gateway Clipper along the 3 rivers in downtown Pittsburgh. Dave surprised Cindy by flying in Heather for the weekend.

What great fun -- seeing family getting together, acting crazy, making up for lost time.

When we get together we feel compelled to take group picture after group picture. Using 2 or three camera's, each posing in turn, worrying about eyes being open, looking at the right camera. And then to further disrupt the restaurant at lunch we sang. Oh lordy we sang. Surprisingly the customers around us didn't leave, perhaps we are getting better over the years. Yep the Chorman's really don't go anywhere quietly!

We made it through IKEA with no embarassing mishaps and headed downtown. To more group photographs, different angles, different combinations of people, different camera's, etc etc. etc. At least it gave the folks eating in the area restaurants some amusement!

The cruise was great and the only dancing was us running across the dance floor to the restrooms! Noone had to hurl over the side of the boat which is an added bonus and the city is beautiful at night.

It is always fun to get the family together. We are each unique and different, with different ideas of what we want to do, how we want to go about it. We like different things, different paces. What is entertaining to one is most likely irritating to another. What is conservative to one is liberal to another. We misunderstand good intentions and leap to faulty conclusions.

We are all so different in so many ways, we're bound to disagree, argue, and see things differently.

But in the end, we are family. We support each other through thick or thin. We forgive and try to forget! We're always there for each other. And we remember in the end -- love and family are far stronger then any differences could ever be.
