The Greatest Day Ever

Easter is such a wonderful day, after such a dark weekend. Debbie's pastor gave a great sermon. I'd never thought of Saturday before. Sure there is good Friday, then Easter. But imagine Saturday --all that happened, the morning, the suffering, the doubt, the loss, the fear.

What a weekend. What everyone suffered. "But the WORST was the complete separation from God that Jesus endured on the cross. Jesus and God enjoyed fellowship from eternity past, Jesus was Beloved by God, they had perfect fellowship – and Jesus willing endured the absence of God when all of our sins were placed on Him and God turned His face from Him and poured out His wrath on His own beloved Son – so we, sinners, could have peace with Him. What love, what grace, what mercy – that God should love a wretch like me." Debbie L. Middleton

And from the darkness there was light. Making Easter the Greatest Day Ever.
And we celebrate. With song, prayer, and family. And with family comes food (at least in the Chorman sisters' eyes!). Noisy, loud, with enough food to feed easily double the amount of people, pretty much no matter how many people show up! And with the great cooks in our family (I got the eating genes) it's quite a feast.

And to work off the food we have an EASTER EGG HUNT! Debbie's eggs are plastic and filled with money (I like those eggs!), hidden by Sue's sons, Corey and Casey. Color-coded by child they did a good job of hiding for the various age groups present. My favorite was watching Gillian -- as the eggs fell out of her basket and she kept "discovering" more!
And then watching them count their money! Precious.
Add the seasonal weather, the blue skies . . . Perfect!

Truly a blessing. Truly the greatest gifts, on the greatest day.
