I don't write this for self congratulation. I can do that plenty without bothering to write it out! I write it to honor the teacher, although the learning was way late
She's traveling to France with her young son. He's adorable in his jeans, suit coat, and tie. He's maybe four years old. They come every year to see her family. A flight, a layover, an 8 hour flight. Alone with your (albeit very well behaved) 4 year old
It's a small puddle hopper- you have to go outside to get on the plane. Down a flight of stair. Up a flight of stairs into the plane. After de-planning you go up a flight of steps. Down a long hall. Up a flight of steps
With your 4 year old. And his rolling bag. And your rolling bag. And you hand bag. And his other small food bag. Alone. With a four year old
So on the way to the plane she was ahead of me so it was logical to carry his bag down the steps. Landing in Toronto I had to remember. And wait for them. And carry his bag up the steps. Then down the long hall. Then to wait again and carry his bag up the next set of steps to customs
I didn't have to wait. But Dad would have been awfully disappointed had I not. To him it was an expected act. I must pause still.
Lessons learned. Too many embarrassing years later.
Merci Pappa
In Toronto. France here we come!
