Note to self

P28

Note to self - don't go through Chicago for an international flight.

Man it is alot of work getting ready for a trip. I don't want to sound ungrateful or unappreciative, because I know I am blessed for the opportunity. But I'm exhausted!

I had barely unpacked when I had to organize to leave again. Honestly the bike part of the trip adds an entire element of difficulty. First, packing the bike. It had packed so easily going to Florida I'm guessing I got cocky. I waited far too late into the night, doing all of the other tasks on my list. Perhaps the extra cogs to get me up the mountains unsettled the packing process. Several tries later I decided it was good enough. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

In addition to packing clothes for the trip, I need to pack clothes to ride in. And it can get cold on top of the mountains. Since we are watching two stages of the Tour, I had to pack another backpack of clothes I won't have access to for the week. They bring that up the first day and camp up there, saving us a viewing spot. (Quite popular the Tour de France!)

And then a bag of: tires, tubes, spare cables, extra brake pads, pair of spare cleats, tools, bike stand - whew!

My list is crossed off, I'm on my way. My flight routed through Chi-town. My gate number is not on any map. The signs to Terminal 5 lead me one way, if I look behind me, the sign says something different. Finally left security, go on a train similar to the L I think they call it here. Then had to go through security - again!

Thankful for a long layover!

A bientot.
